In 2014 Zammit Roofing generously offered us 5 acres of apple orchard at the bottom of Bloors Lane to run both as a productive orchard and as a wildlife habitat. Since then a dedicated band of volunteers has put in many hours clearing nettles, thistles etc. and then pruning during the winter. As a result the whole of the orchard is now accessible, producing much more fruit and the variety of wildlife is increasing.  More volunteers are always welcome, including to help staff the PYO days.  To find out more please email or call Hamish on 01634 310011 9.00 to 5.00 Monday to Friday.

Over the past three years a band of volunteers have rescued five acres Cox and Russet apple trees to restore it both as a productive orchard and as a wildlife habitat. Last year over 2 tonnes were sold on the PYO days and the rest was turned into 2800 litre bottles of juice which will sell out in a few weeks. All profit is being donated to Kent Wildlife Trust.

Saturday/Sunday  7 / 8 October 10.00am to 4.00pm.
There are plenty of Coxes which are now at their best. The Russets, which were ripe earlier, have all been picked with about 3 tonnes sent for juicing. There are still many drops which may be picked up in bulk for cider making, feeding to horses etc in return for a donation.

The 2800 litre bottles of last season's apple juice have sold out. This season's is expected to be available early November. Availability will be announced on, on facebook @Rainham Community Orchard and printed in future issues of The Net.
