Dementia Buddy Scheme - Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The Dementia Buddy Scheme is now running at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals. We are currently recruiting volunteers who would like to be trained as “Dementia Buddies”. This is a very rewarding and much needed role that can make all the difference to a patient with memory problems and their families, ensuring they receive the best possible care. Time is a valuable commodity on the ward and a dementia buddy volunteer’s sole responsibility and focus is on the patient providing company, stimulation and one to one attention, especially at meal times. Working in partnership with the ward sisters team, the Dementia Buddy is able to free up nurses, giving them time to deliver on the clinical needs of the patient. If you posses core skills in communication, compassion and an understanding of the needs of those living with dementia, PLEASE ......... volunteer, get involved and make a difference,  For more information please contact: Natalie Emerick – 07964 501291 or Dementia Buddy Co-coordinator for Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals
