We are a highly successful Risk Management Consultancy and part of this established multi-disciplinary consultancy.

We are currently looking for an Asbestos Consultant to join our growing team working from our Sidcup office.

Job Description

  • Undertaking and managing fee-earning activity in relation to compliance risk management, including but not limited to conducting asbestos surveys, project managing removals, provision of general consultancy advice, re-inspections and report writing
  • Works may be based within the clients’ central London office location or within the Sidcup office
  • Assist the Head of Asbestos Risk Management
    -for the development and growth of the asbestos business
    -to set and deliver strategic objectives and growth targets
    -with the formation and delivery of an agreed business plan to meet the company’s strategic objectives

 

Skills/Experience Required:

Qualifications

P402 Qualification is essential.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a career showing continuous personal development.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years overall technical experience in respect of asbestos services
  • Experienced in working with local authorities as well social and domestic housing
  • A good general education to degree or diploma level in a related subject is desirable. Good eye for detail and scrutinising of work by other colleagues

(Desirable)

  • Previous line management experience
  • Experience of working within both the public and private sectors
  • A successful track record of securing new business

Candidates will be required to travel widely on occasions to support new business development, and participate in training and strategic reviews. Occasional overnight stays may be needed. A full, clean driving licence therefore is required.

Job Description:

Undertaking structural surveys of primarily housing and government buildings:

-          Visit site to observe defects

-          Prepare a report identifying defect, probable cause and any remediation required

-          Arranging opening up works, geotechnical investigations, CCTV surveys and materials testing as required to conclude advice

 

Structural design of small works that may include:

-          Internal structural alterations

-          Extensions

-          Appraisal of existing structures

-          Site inspections during the works to ensure compliance with specification

 

Skills/Experience Required:

Minimum of 10 years experience within a design consultancy

Must have experience of undertaking the work described in the Key Job Activities, with good knowledge of construction types and methods in most materials

 

Technical Knowledge and Skills

Conversant with current Standards and Codes of Practice, but as a minimum British Standards

Experience in the design of general construction materials, in particular traditional construction and framed buildings

Familiarity with structural design packages (TEDDS would benefit)

Very good report writing and communication skills

Familiar with the usual MS applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project

 

Minimum A.M.I.Struct.E or Graduate Engineer that can demonstrate good relevant experience

Job Description:

We are seeking an Assistant Building Surveyor to join a growing team based in Sidcup to assist in the delivery of various building surveying commissions.

This will be working for a multi-disciplinary Design & Build Private Practice, established over 35 years.

Main duties within role of Senior Building Surveyor:


• Assisting in ensuring that all surveying work is in full compliance with relevant statutory requirements and regulations, as well as the relevant records and systems requirements of the Company and of those Surveying Institutions with which the Company is associated.

• Assisting building surveyors in undertaking the role of Contract Administrator on Building Surveying commissions.

• Assisting in the undertaking of a variety of building surveys including measured surveys, condition surveys, party wall awards and access audits.

• Assisting in providing building surveying design solutions and producing reports

• Maintaining and monitoring financial performance of projects through the use of Workbench and Client specific systems.

• Assisting in managing Client workloads and framework agreements, and assisting in the development of the Company’s partnering commissions.

• Any other duties reasonably required of the post-holder following consultation.

 

Skills/Experience Required:

• Proficient in Excel, Word and AutoCAD (2D).

• Good numeracy skills.

• Ability to write succinct and accurate reports.

• A good knowledge of current Building Regulations.
